چکیده

Aberrant rests of pancreatic tissue can be found throughout the gastrointestinal system and are known as pancreatic heterotopia or ectopic pancreas (EP). Authors report a 12-year-old girl with jejunal EP with a long-lasting history of sporadic bilious vomiting. Upper gastrointestinal (GI) study showed delayed passage beyond duodeno-jejunal junction. During laparotomy a 2x2 cm mass was encountered on the mesenteric border of the jejunum, 3 cm distal to the ligament of Treitz. Histopathologic examination revealed pancreatic tissue. The mass was excised and end-to-end anastomosis was performed. Postoperative course of the patient was uneventful and she is doing well after 10 months. Intestinal obstruction due to EP has been reported to occur only if it causes intussusception. Intestinal obstruction without intussusception due to jejunal EP has not been reported. In our case, the EP tissue was located just beneath the mucosa and involved the muscular layer. The foreign body effect of the EP tissue involving the muscular layer may cause dysmotility and/or local spasm, which we think were responsible for the long-lasting sporadic bilious vomiting in our patient.

Gastric heterotopia causing jejunal ulceration and obstruction.

A young woman with persistent postprandial vomiting was found to have a high-grade proximal jejunal stricture. The stricture was surgically excised, and histopathological examination showed gastric heterotopia with localised ulceration and fibrosis. Symptomatic gastric heterotopia in the small bowel is rare, and to our knowledge this is the first report of jejunal gastric heterotopia resulting ...

Adenocarcinoma arising from jejunal ectopic pancreas mimicking peritoneal metastasis from colon cancer: a case report and literature review

Adenocarcinoma arising from jejunal ectopic pancreas is very rare. We report a case of a 69-year-old female with adenocarcinoma arising from jejunal ectopic pancreas after resection of advanced colon cancer. She underwent right hemicolectomy for advanced ascending colon cancer (ypT3N0M0, stage IIA) after chemotherapy. Two and half years after colectomy, her tumor markers were elevated, and comp...

An Unusual Presentation of Annular Pancreas: A Case Report

Abstract Annular pancreas (AP) is a rare congenital malformation resulting from failure of pancreas ventral anlage rotation with the duodenum. This leads to a ring of pancreatic tissue that envelops the duodenum. Clinical manifestations of AP most commonly develop in infancy or early childhood but can present at any age. The diagnosis of AP, usually suggested by an upper GI series or abdominal ...

During surgery, a jejunal cystic lesion was incidentally detected and jejunectomy was performed. Microscopically, the cyst was observed to be covered by...

Ectopic jejunal pancreas and congenital duodenal stenosis in a newborn patient: an unusual association.

Congenital duodenal stenosis is one of the most common causes of neonatal obstruction, which is frequently associated with annular pancreas and Down syndrome. Ectopic pancreas is defined as an abnormally situated pancreatic mass that lacks contact with normal pancreas. Although the association between duodenal stenosis and annular pancreas is very common, the presence of an ectopic island of pa...
